What was that writing process like with Daniel Ross and Michael Whitworth for your song "Yours or Mine"?
Thank you! “Yours or Mine” was the first song Daniel, Michael, and I ever wrote together. We wrote the song in about 45 minutes, so it all came together rather quickly. Those guys became some of my best friends and frequent collaborators from that point on.

The music video has such a cool vibe to it, how did you come up with the inspiration for it?
The song is all about the beginnings of a relationship and the back and forth that tends to go on. For the video, I wanted to convey that back and forth and play off of the his vs. hers. So in some shots you’ll see a pink room and others you’ll see a darker room to symbolize that.

As this was your first time doing a music video, what was that experience like for you?
It was definitely a learning experience, but I had a lot of fun with it. I learned how uncomfortable I am being in front of the camera, so it took a few takes to get it right haha. I ended up getting the hang of it though.

You also released a cover of John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over) just in time for the holidays,” what made you choose that song in particular?
It’s always been one of my favorite Christmas songs. With everything going on in the world right now and this year as a whole, I just thought it was very relevant. I hope fans enjoy my version of the song.

How did you know you wanted to be an artist? Was there any particular moment or event that made you realize?
I always just wanted to focus on being a songwriter, but I started writing songs I couldn’t imagine anyone but me singing. That’s when the switch flipped and I got bit by the artist bug.

Who are some of your musical influences?
The Beatles, Neil Young, Kacey Musgraves, John Mayer, The Beach Boys. I could keep going all day. I’m just honestly such a music fan, but those are some of the crucial ones that have influenced me the most as an artist.

How do you think your music and/or writing has developed since you’ve started making music?
I like to think they’ve gotten progressively better. I live in a town full of the best songwriters in the world, so that pushes me to grow and become a better writer everyday.
